Planted by Greg Melanson in the spring of 1988. Few had dared to plant on this steep and rugged terrain. But for the few that struggled to clear the land of boulders on densely covered slopes the reward was extraordinary.
Pritchard Hill has earned its reputation as one of the true hidden gems in the world of wine, giving birth to a unique terroir that is so new that it has yet to be recognized as an official AVA. With neighboring vineyards, Chapallett, Colgin, Bryant Family, Continuum, and Ovid, Melanson finds itself in good company.
At more than 1200ft elevation, the 42-acre property with 10.5-acre under vine, it sits in peaceful isolation on a boulder- strewn hillside with stunning views of Lake Hennessey and the Napa Valley below.
